Meridian Polka has played at our annual Oktoberfest event for the past two years and they have been amazing! They bring such a great energy to the event that our customers and staff really enjoy. All of the musicians are very professional and easy to work with. If you are planning an event where live music is needed, I would highly recommend Meridian Polka!

    Paul Lepley, Ph.D.

    Founder – Dr. Paul Lepley

Founder of Lepley Music, Dr. Paul Lepley comes from generations of professional musicians. The tradition began with his great-grandfather, a barn-dance fiddler in West Michigan, and continued through his aunts, who served as church musicians in parishes across the United States and Barbados.

Paul carries this legacy forward as a trumpet, cornet, and flugelhorn player based in the Lansing area. He holds a Bachelor of Music, a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, and a Ph.D. in Human Ecology. His background in classical and jazz music, paired with a passion for collaborative performance, became the foundation for Lepley Music—a consortium that brings musicians from diverse backgrounds together to share music with audiences across Michigan.

Paul continues to perform with a wide range of local and regional ensembles, spanning jazz, classical, brass, and community-based groups. After retiring from the U.S. Army following 20 years of service, he remains committed to music as a shared, communal experience—one that brings people together and enriches community life.

    AnnaMaria Horn

    AnnaMaria Pasley-Horn

Born and raised in South Florida, AnnaMaria Pasley-Horn first stepped into the spotlight at age six as the featured vocalist in her family’s ensemble. That early experience sparked a lifelong passion for performance and opened the door to a career rooted in creativity, collaboration, and community. From touring as a solo artist to mentoring young performers in voice, theater, and dance, her work continues to evolve across genres and settings.

Today, AnnaMaria is a vibrant presence in Michigan’s music scene. She performs regularly with the Lansing Community College Jazz Band and the Lansing Concert Band, blending jazz phrasing, soulful expression, and theatrical storytelling in her performances. She is also the vocalist for Horn & Holland, a jazz duo with her husband, Darren Horn, and frequently shares the stage with her children in their family ensemble, The Horn Section 7. Whether performing with a jazz combo, a concert band, or alongside her multitalented family, AnnaMaria approaches music as a space for connection, creativity, and growth. Her heart for people and her deep commitment to the arts continue to shape her work both on and off the stage.

    Jonathan Evans

    Jonathan Evans

Jonathan Evans is a Michigan native, brass specialist, and multi-instrumentalist. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music from Michigan State University, where he performed with nationally recognized ensembles including the MSU Wind Symphony, MSU Jazz Orchestras, and the Spartan Marching Band. His passion for achieving a high level of proficiency across multiple instruments is matched by his dedication to sharing that knowledge with the next generation of musicians.

Jonathan has been playing brass instruments for over 20 years and teaching for more than a decade. Through his private music studio, JonathanTeaches (jonathanteaches.com), he provides instruction in tuba, euphonium, trombone, trumpet, voice, music theory, ukulele, and bass guitar. His primary instrument of study is tuba, with a specialization in jazz trombone.

As a performer, Jonathan is regularly hired to play trombone, tuba, trumpet, electric bass guitar, and other instruments across a variety of musical settings. He also teaches early childhood music, where he sings and plays ukulele for toddlers, and has served as a music director for Riverwalk Theatre productions. In addition, Jonathan frequently works as a substitute music educator throughout mid-Michigan, applying his conducting and rehearsal skills in school ensembles. He is also a regular brass clinician for schools across the region.

Jonathan is deeply committed to applying musical concepts learned on one instrument to others, bringing this integrated approach to both the stage and the classroom. For him, music is a constant—an outlet, a discipline, and a source of nourishment. With care and warmth, teaching and performing are the gifts he offers to the world.
